Markey's Fizzy Bath Bombs

Calling all crafty chicks! This bath bomb recipe is the bomb. Know why? 'Cause it's straight from the beauty lab of our friend Markey Martin, owner of Garden of Wisdom -- our favorite online shop for everything you need for mixing up beauty balms in your own kitchen. Tie your homemade bath bombs up with a pretty ribbon and don't forget to save a few for your own spa time-out!

Here's what you need:

• 2 cups baking soda
• 2/3 citric acid
• 2 tablespoons soluble dextrose
• 5 tablespoons sweet almond oil
• 6 drops of gel tone colorant of your choice
• 6 drops essential oil of your choice
• soap mold

Here's what you do:

Mix baking soda, citric acid, and soluble dextrose together carefully in a bowl, taking care to break up any clumps. Mix essential oils, color and sweet almond oil together in a glass measuring cup. Start mixing dry and wet ingredients together by quickly pouring the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Work fast so that the dry ingredients do not begin to fizz. Mix everything with fingers until all oil has been soaked up, and you can squeeze it together in your hands without it falling apart. Prep the molding utensil by rubbing the inside with sweet almond oil, ensuring that the bombs do not stick. Fill the molds firmly with the fizzy bath bomb mixture. The tighter the "bombs" are, the more durable they'll be in the bath water. Let the mixture set inside the molds for 24 hours. Get DIY ingredients at gardenofwisdom.com.
