You never know what to expect when you walk into a nail salon the first time. Scottsdale Hand and Foot Spa at the Shops at 94th and Shea was a pleasant surprise.
It was a Thursday afternoon and the joint was hopping. Blanketed in warm colors and a tropical décor, the salon was exceptionally spacious with high couches arranged along several walls above tiled pedicure foot sinks. The space is shaped by two rounded nail bars at each end for manicures. The two main pedicure areas are sectioned off in semi-circles so you can chat with your companions while you get your tootsies treated. In fact a group of lively ladies were chatting it up and laughing away in one of the back areas. I was only a little jealous as I tucked myself in between throw pillows in one of the smaller pedi sections.
The salon has made a name for itself because of its use of disposable plastic liners in their foot bowls along with fresh flower petals. I even got a few limes in mine, woohoo! The pedi couches were surprisingly comfy and equipped with a massaging back pad. The pedicure itself was extremely thorough and the nail polish stayed unchipped and pretty for a good two weeks. I liked that they had both Zoya and OPI polish lines in a full range of colors to choose from.
Scottsdale Hand and Foot Spa is definitely a good choice for a girls’ day out and with Ling and Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill just a few doors down, I’d say it’s also great place for Manicures and Mai Tai Mondays! Tip: Call ahead and ask about weekday specials.
